President Köhler reelected in Germany

At today's sitting of the German Federal Assembly in Berlin President Horst Köhler was reelected for another five-year term, winning an absolute majority already in the first round. Of the 1223 delegates present 613 voted for the Christian Democrat Köhler, 503 for the Social Democrat Gesine Schwan, 91 for the Linke candidate Peter Sodann and 4 for the right-wing extremist Frank Rennicke. 10 abstained and 2 votes were deemed invalid.
